How to get to the Andorran ski resorts

There is no train to Andorra. From Barcelona you have three ways up to the snow: a scheduled coach, a hire car or a private transfer. Here is what each one means with skis, children and a mountain road in winter.

The three options

Coach, hire car or transfer

Scheduled coach

Coach to Andorra la Vella

Several daily coaches leave Barcelona Airport and the city for Andorra la Vella, in about three to four hours. To reach the ski villages you then change to a local bus or a local taxi, with all your bags.

Self-drive

Hire car

Freedom on the spot, but you drive a mountain road in winter, may need chains or winter tyres when the authorities require them, and pay for parking at the resort. Check that your rental contract allows driving into Andorra.

Door to door

Private transfer

Your driver meets you at arrivals and stops at your hotel door. One fixed price per vehicle, tolls included, skis and boots on board; child seats added when you book (paid extra).

The price is live in the search box

Choose your airport and your ski base, add people, suitcases and ski bags, and book and pay on this page.

The coach, honestly

When the coach makes sense

If you travel alone or as a couple with little luggage and your hotel is in Andorra la Vella, the coach is the simplest option. It gets harder with skis and children: the coach ends in the capital, and the climb to Soldeu, Pas de la Casa, Arinsal or El Serrat is another connection. Check timetables and luggage rules with the coach operator before you book.

Driving yourself

What to know before hiring a car

  • In heavy snow, Andorra can require chains or winter tyres on some stretches; follow the instructions of Mobilitat Andorra.
  • The C-16 through the Cadí tunnel is a toll road; the Envalira tunnel towards Pas de la Casa too.
  • Andorra is outside the EU: there is a customs check at the border and some rental companies charge a fee or need notice to cross.
  • Most ski villages have paid car parks; many hotels charge for parking.

With a transfer

The price per person drops with every seat

The transfer price is per vehicle, not per person. For a family of four or a group of friends, splitting one vehicle often comes close to the cost of coach tickets plus the local connection, and you arrive at the door. Enter your group and luggage in the search box to see the live price, or compare times on distances and drive times.

Skis, boots and suitcases

What vehicle do I need?

Count everyone and every bag. Ski bags, snowboards and big suitcases are one item each; two cabin bags or two boot bags count as one. The boot fills up as you add them, and the price comes live from our booking engine.
